If viewed from the point of view of Sam Harris, this movie teaches the moral values that are allegorically carried by the Yellowbird character. The findings revealed that there were 11 moral values: bravery, humbleness, honesty, steadfastness, sympathy to others, cooperativeness, thankfulness, trustworthiness, kind-hearted, sincerity and love, and affection. In the classification of moral values, the researcher uses 11 categories of moral values according to Hornby (2010). The data were analyzed in the framework of moral values by Sam Harris (Harris, 2010). data were collected from various sources. The primary data was taken from the Yellowbird movie and the secondary. The method that is used in this study is a qualitative method. It is necessary to discuss more deeply how the author conveys moral values in this movie. This movie includes stories of family, friendship, fun, and happiness. Yellowbird is a movie for children directed by Christian De Vita that contains a lot of moral values. Using historical accounts, he persuasively argues that such characterizations of moral decline entail stereotyping, nostalgia for times past, and a failure to recognize the moral viewpoint of those who challenge traditions. Turiel shows that generation after generation has lamented the decline of society and blamed young people. Turiel challenges these views, drawing on a large body of research from developmental psychology, anthropology, sociology as well as social events, political movements, and journalistic accounts of social and political struggles. A sharp turn toward an extreme form of individualism and a lack of concern for community involvement and civic participation are often blamed for the moral crisis. A common theme in the latter part of the twentieth century has been to lament the moral state of American society and the decline of morality among youth. Meanwhile, building children's character can be implied through “The Adventure of Pinocchio's” fairy tale: honesty, responsible, regard, respect, and compassionated.Ī thought-provoking examination of how explanations of social and moral development inform our understandings of morality and culture. As a result, the researcher finds that some elements of moral values such as love and affection, sensitivity and not-selfish, bravery, self-discipline, and moderation occurred in the content of the novel. At the same time, the secondary data sources are taken from other literary books and related references to support and complete the primary data. This study merely uses “The Adventure of Pinocchio,” a novel by Carlo Collodi, translated into English version by Carol Della Chiesa as the primary data source. The method of this study is qualitative research, which means it does not need statistical procedure to analyze the material. There are moral values argued by Linda & Eyre and the theory of children’s character building based on Lewis. To analyze this novel, the researcher uses two principles theory to find out the objectives of the studies. This study focuses on revealing the categories of moral value and describing the building children's character implied in this novel. This study attempts to analyze a fairy tale novel entitled “The Adventure of Pinocchio”, which talks about the story of the irrepressible marionette who longed to become a real boy.
